About Us, Rock, Sex and the USSR
This is a story about young people who experienced the legendary concert of the band “Pērkons” at the Ogre stage in 1985 and the subsequent vandalism of the train. Three friends – seventeen-year-olds Andrejs, Vizma and Uģis – listen to music, try to find their place in life, and deal with relationships with each other, their families and the communist regime. Their longing for independence from the views and control of their parents and previous generations coincides with the great, collective, yearning for change and freedom felt in the air. The performance features the music of “Pērkons”, with each song becoming an important part of the story.
A performance for young people who want to know what it was like and for those who have experienced it themselves.
Premiere on March 15, 2022, at the Valmiera Drama Theatre.
"Players' Night" nominations in the categories "New Work of the Year in Drama" and "Performance of the Year for Children and/or Youth", as well as for several acting works in the 2021/22 season.
